Intermission

Privacy Policy

Last updated 8 July 2026

Intermission ("we", "us", "our") is a theatre visit diary that lets you log performances you've seen, write reviews, and keep a record of your theatre memories. This policy explains what information we collect through the Intermission app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect the email address and password you provide. Authentication is handled by our identity provider, Supabase — we never see or store your raw password ourselves.

Profile and diary content. Anything you add to your diary: the shows and performances you log, star ratings, written reviews, and the visibility you choose for each review (public, friends, or private).

Seat photos. If you attach a photo to a review, we store the image and, where available, technical metadata embedded in the file — such as the date it was taken and, if your device recorded it, the location. This metadata is used only to help organise your own diary (for example, matching a photo to the right performance) and is never shown to other users.

Feedback. If you submit feedback through the app and opt in to being contacted about it, we store the email address associated with your account so we can follow up.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Intermission has no ad network or analytics SDK collecting behavioural data about you.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Operate your account and keep your diary in sync across devices
  • Display your reviews to other users according to the visibility you chose
  • Respond to feedback or support requests you send us
  • Maintain the security and reliability of the service

Visibility and sharing

Every review you write has a visibility setting that you control:

  • Public — visible to anyone using Intermission
  • Friends — visible only to people you've connected with
  • Private — visible only to you

Seat photos and their metadata follow the same visibility as the review they're attached to, and are never shared with or sold to third parties for advertising purposes.

Where your data is stored

Intermission is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Account and diary data is stored in a managed database, and photos are stored in encrypted object storage. Authentication is handled by Supabase. Both providers act as processors on our behalf and are contractually restricted from using your data for their own purposes.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account and diary data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us at the address below and we'll action the request.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to receive a copy of it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

Children's privacy

Intermission is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
